Potential damage from one of front tires being mismatched?
So I have some questions regarding potential transmission damage as a result of tires being mismatched on a vehicle.
I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra that was driven about 15k-18k miles with a 205/55/R16 front passenger tire while the other three were 205/65/R16. The OEM recommended tire size for the car is actually 205/55R16 as well. I'm wondering just how bad all this madness has been for the transmission. How big of an impact is this likely to have made on the health of the transmission? |

First, hopefully you've remedied the situation. If you haven't, do it right away. Second, whatever damage was done may not exhibit itself for many, many miles. Since there is nothing you can do about it now, the only thing I suggest is to change the tranny fluid and hope for the best. Oh and to answer your question: It can't be determined how badly damaged the tranny ultimately is without tearing it apart. |

Re: Potential damage from one of front tires being mismatched?
Doing this continuously will wear out your tires unevenly, which can cause problem later down the road. The danger of mismatched wheels and tires can lead to accidents and expensive maintenance issues. It's also best to ask your trusted auto shop regarding this matter for better recommendations. Hope this helps!
