please help, need 95 SC2 1.9L DOHC engine info

I just bought my saturn last september, and now the engine is messed up (the number 3 cylinder?). I'm a college student, so that means I'm broke and trying to find the cheapest and quickest way to fix it, so the $2500-3500 rebuilt engine is definitely not an option. I'm completely up for trying to fix it myself, or getting an engine from a junk yard that runs to stick in it, but would anyone happen to have any advice or know if there's any other engine I could put in the car other than the one it came with?
