2002 Voyager 3.0L quit suddenly no spark

The engine died without warning. I am getting no spark. I put a voltmeter on the primary connector's two terminals after disconnecting them from the coil and was getting very low voltage when cranking it. I was comparing it to a functioning 1992 caravan that got about 5 volts in a similar test.
I got no resistance across the primary spade terminals of the coil. I did get resistance across the spade terminals of the 1992 Voyager.

I ran the internal diagnostic and got two code readings #23 and #55. I believe #23 is an indication of the start of the cycle, which would mean that #55 is the only code that was revealed.

The fuel pump is coming on when the key is turned on.

So I am getting no primary current to the coil.

I moved the relays around to confirm the automatic shutdown relay was working and I also checked the fuse for the ASD.

Can someone enlighten me?

NOTE: I INADVERTENTLY POSTED THAT IT WAS A 20002 PLYMOUTH 3.0 AND THAT IS WRONG; IT IS A 2000!

check to see if your timing belt broke apart; unbolt one of the covers and update us

if it did, no worries since they are free-wheeling engines

instead of that other interference engine

No, the timing belt is intact.

Do you have a manual to check what the resistance should be at the coils. Usually from what I hear most of these problems are caused by, bad grounds, loose connections etc., camshaft or crankshaft position sensors, bad coil. ASD relay and sometimes the pcm itself.

Re: 2002 Voyager 3.0L quit suddenly no spark

hmm, i didn't know you can access trouble codes the OBD I way on a 2002 model... (nice to know that the key-on, key-off, key-on, key-off, key-on method still works!)

code 23 is Charge Temperature Sensor Circuit but that would only set it to limp mode when the sensor failed or when the wires are shorted/open...

code 55 is End Of Message
-----------------------------------------------------------------
so based on that code, you can easily test for continuity on that sensor (2 prongs with ohmmeter set)

edit: o it may have something to do with it! might as well check the sensor

Quote:
Since the ACT is located in the air
filter or intake manifold, any buildup on the
sensor's tip can cause the sensor to read
incorrectly.

A bad ACT sensor can cause poor
performance, hard starting, hesitation, or
poor fuel mileage.
is this the right year, because i'm trying to look up the sensors for a 2002 chrysler voyager, but getting a 3.3L option and a 4 cyl 2.4L option only in that year... and in a 2001 model as well

and just based on a 3.3L, the ignition coil is different from the one on a 1992... distributorless for a 2002

and it has 4 prongs to the primary side of the coil
~shrugs~

I checked all except the cam position sensor , which I cannot find. And the pcm, of course.

I made a mis type; it is a 2000 Plymouth 3.0L with a standard -type distributor and coil. It is not as depicted above.

UPDATE

About the code: I understand that the code shown by depressing the trip and reset button is just a code for the instrument cluster. I don't know why Chrysler does not offer this information in the owner's manual. So, I went and bought a OBDll scanner and then I got an error Code P0340. Sorry about the mistake.
Comment?

Re: 2002 Voyager 3.0L quit suddenly no spark

Code P0340 as you know is camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction, so the problem could be anywhere in the circuit. Also it seems these vans have a high amount of ground problems so make sure battery to engine and engine to body grounds are clean and tight.

camshaft locations...

3.3 and 3.8 are mounted above the timing cover - belt side of engine

3.0 from what i read is located inside your distributer for a 2000

Re: 2002 Voyager 3.0L quit suddenly no spark

backprobe the cam sensor signal circuit. tuen you volt meter to min/max and checked high and low voltage to check operation of cam signal. The correct way would be to scope the signal but not many people have scopes....
