Looking for XC70 '01 owners.

I'm looking to buy a '01 XC70 in ventian red. I'm was really excited about the purchase and have owned several other Volvos but was shocked when I read in Consumer Reports used car report that rated the '01 very poorly. The '01 was rated "the worst" in the following categories; 1. cooling, 2. transmission, 3.drive system, 4. electrical, 5.suspension, 6. paint, trim, rust, 7. body hardware. Now the more recent years, '02-05 were rated much higher in all these categories. I'm confused, any info would be appreciated. I really like this red '01 but I don't want to buy a potential problem.

Re: Looking for XC70 '01 owners.

I have a 2001 XC70 that I bought new, other than some sloppy interior trim issues that were fixed in the first few months the car has been trouble free. There are some reports of high mileage cars with ECM issues but Volvo has a 10 year,200000 mile replacemnt program on that part.Other than that I think they are great cars. Iwould have the car checked by a competent mechanic before I bought it however. BJ
