More pics from Hobby Search, it appears to be a very simplified kit.

There does seem to be a disappointingly low level of detail in the kit. I assume half of the chassis detail is molded in as there appears to be very few chassis components on those sprues

You are right, it basically consist of a chassis, two struts, steering rod and a single metal axel for the the rear.

At least the front wheels turn, which is better than Tamiya's 350Z.

hey, guys stop crying!
Its finally there after many months, and it does look a bit simple, but that 's even better for us, to detail it further, to make it better and to scratchbuild some stuff.

I, for one, like it a lot.

Thanks Fujimi

Too bad there is no LHD dash or separate door panels. For 2500 yen you'd think they'd be slightly more generous...

The rest looks good.

Maybe Tamiya will be interested in a full-detail version. I'm not holding my breath though

At 2500 yen this kit is way overpriced. If you were to compare it with an equivalent street car kit such as the Toyota Celica or Nissan Skyline, Tamiya's offerings appear to have much more detail but sell for only 1800 yen. That's quite a difference

Whats the best red for the rx-8? I know it has gold flakes in it and wonder if the tamiya mica red would be best.

I have made some test. the best color I found was a Coat of Sunset Leman (Nissan A17) then a coat of Mica Red.. that give you a very good color.
