Gauge Sweep

My 2000 Grand Am SE has 189XXX miles with the 3400 SFI engine, and when I fire her up, the gauges for the tach and speedo don't sweep smoothly, actually they're extremely jerky when it's doing the gauge sweep. Is this an indicator that the gauge motors are starting to wear out? The coolant temp and fuel gauges sweep back and fourth very smoothly.
