ported or unported that is the question

i plan on getting 2 10 inch type Rs for my ex cab truck. i love bass plain and simple. i heard ported boxes can dish out some serious bass but when the tempo of the music is fast the bass distorts? is that true?. ive had sealed for the longest i figure its time fo a change.

Ive never heard the distort during fast paced bass in a ported enclosure i have heard bass that sounds like ass in them playing slow heavy beats, its mainly due to poor enclosure design or construction.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: ported or unported that is the question

ported base usually hits harder when it is in a back seat enviornment. i have 1 12" sub with a 250 watt amp, it was a real cheap system but i custom made my box and my system hits harder than many others around were i live. if youre putting it in the back seat, i would deffinately go with ported. but dont make the port too big, look around, theres a recommended port size depending on the box and speaker size you are useing.
