E-250 Transmission question
Hello
I have a E-250 (I know this forum is for F series, but should be the same) 2008 with 145,000 Kms. 4.6 L. The thing that is happening is that the transmission is acting weird, when I put reverse it goes but seems like is on reverse and drive at the same time, it won't go back or forward, when give gas goes on reverse but seems like applying the brakes or like it is on Drive intermittent, or shifting from reverse to drive by itself. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you |

Re: E-250 Transmission question
I'm not quite sure what you're saying. But it sounds like your parking pawl may not be releasing, something is broken in the park gear linkage inside the transmission. I have seen this happen on older model automatic transmissions.

Re: E-250 Transmission question
Can the van be rolled if put in neutral? If not, it may be the parking prawl like mechhound said. If it does move in that case, it might be the MLPS sensor which is on the driver side of the transmission housing.

Re: E-250 Transmission question
I took the van to 2 transmission shops today and both gave me the same information "Transmission has a bad bearing and needs to be rebuilt"
Now has a humming noise and worst every minute. Thank you guys but on Monday goes to the shop, bad luck to have a problem with an 2008 van, and is out of warranty because it has 145,000 Kms. and the warranty is only to 100,000 Kms. |
