Is Dextron 3/Mercon an acceptable tranny fluid?
I am attempting to do a tranny service. I went to part store and asked for a tranny fluid for my J30, and he said Dextron 3/Mercon will work.
Is he right? Any hint on tranny service DIY? |

Dexron 3 is good to use.It states which fluid to use on your trans dipstick.Do not remove the trans oil pan as Infiniti does not use a filter. They only use a screen for oil pick-up.removing the pan is a waste of time.Draining the oil pan removes only approx.1/3 of total trans fluid. To completely remove all fluid it has to be done by a trans flush machine.By just draining and refilling the oil pan doesn't do much.
Good luck |
