Cool Spec V Kill!

raced my boys 04 Spec V off the line, off a roll, launched from 2nd, and in 3rd gear and ate him everytime. we raced about 8 times and i ate him everytime. Hes got intake and exhaust and i got a stock 95 gsr. I also raced a yellow one with same mods and the outcome was the same. Anyone else whooped up on them too!?

Re: Spec V Kill!

good kill. Did you get him off the line? That's the only place Specs really shine at because of the torque and LSD. From a roll they aren't great. Specs have absolutely no top end, the powerband is between 3 and 4k. Not exactly what you want for freeway racing.

Re: Spec V Kill!

Good kill I raced one the summer before last in the 1/8th mile track and it barely beat me by like .10 of a second but after switching my short ram intake out for a Cold Air Intake I beat a couple at the track and on the highway there wasn't really a challenge. Own a pretty modded 95 VR6 Jetta Cams, chip, exhaust,Schrick VGI,pullies, lightened flywheel, clutch etc.

shoot, most of the people I talk to that drive Specs have been able to hit consistent 15.3-15.1s at the track. They are fast cars from the factory, just need better top end performance. I think if the car was setup to open up the secondaries about 1000 rpm sooner it'd be a pretty quick car. My secondaries are only open for like 1000 rpm, from about 5200 to the 6300 rpm limit, and the damn redline is at 6200 rpm.

That's what I'm thinking. Actually, many Spec can into the high 15's with those mods while a Stock GS-R is around mid 15's. Yes, it's possible you beat him, but I can't see a killing there

Re: Spec V Kill!

I find this very hard to believe. A spec V with an intake and exhaust will easily push 190-195hp, and the wimpier 1.7 liter gs-r has nowhere near that.. I'm gonna have to agree and say the nissan driver really does suck.

The 94-95's were only 1.7's, 96-01's were 1.8 liters.
