can i make a supercharger? (for cheap)
i've read over a lot about electronic superchargers and was wondering if i could make one for cheap. maybe a leafblower , or maybe a small and really fast fan in the intake tube. what about putting fins on the intake tube walls to spin the air, reducing turbulance.

Electronic superchargers are a joke. They dont do anything. Maybe give you a quarter horse.

if it were really that cheap and easy then wouldn't everyone be doing it?

Re: can i make a supercharger? (for cheap)
if i were to put a fast fan into the intake tube it would force air in - as if the car was moving faster. and the fins on the walls would reduce turbulance making better mixture of a/f.

A. a fan that would push enough air would not fit in your intake. B. There is a product on the market called the tornado that does just that, except that it decreases hp by about 10%.

I got a whole box of 80mm computer fans, will fit inside a 3" tube. I'll sell them to you if you want to give it a try. I'm not responceable for any damages though.

Re: can i make a supercharger? (for cheap)
Fans don't make pressure, they make flow. Flow is generated fine by an engine all by itself. The only way to increase power in this manner is to compress air so that there are more molecules per CFM. Try taking a desk fan and put it against a wall. Notice what happens? It speeds up. If it were making pressure it would slow down.
And for cripes sake, do a search This topic comes up about thirty times a month.

100% useless. Like I said, DO A SEARCH. All the tech and folly has been discussed a billion times. They don't work. Period.

Re: can i make a supercharger? (for cheap)
when i saw that pic i thought it was like hand-sized. not huge like it is in the pics.
but if you want a supercharger it'd be easier to go buy an old one from a scrapyard, then fabricate a new intake manifold to fit it to your engine. but if it screws up dont blame me, i accept no responsibility. |
