Murcielago R-GT

On the occasion of the 2003 IAA in Frankfurt Lamborghini unveils a race car concept derived from its acclaimed super sports car, the Lamborghini Murcielago.

The Murcielago R-GT, developed jointly with race experts Reiter Engineering and parent company Audi's sports division, Audi Sport, will offer Lamborghini clients a highly competitive car to participate in professional motorsport events on an international level.

Built to the specification of FIA and ACO regulations, the R-GT will be equipped with a Lamborghini air-restricted 6-liter V12 engine, developing a highly competitive power output.

The drive train, converted from teh Murcielago permanent 4WD to RWD, as per the FIA/ACO regulations, will sport a sequential gearbox. The total weight will be contained within the relevant class specification of 1100 kg.

The Murcielago R-GT will be supported by the Lamborghini Customer Sports Programme that takes care not only of the sale of the race cars but will also offer trackside assistance.

With the Murcielago R-GT clients will compete in national and international race events such as the European FIA GT Championship or the American Le Mans Series in the United States.

Vehicles for customers will be available by 2004 at a selling price below 500.000 Euro.

Reiter Engineering will enter a Murcielago R-GT in the FIA GT races at Estoril, 5 October and at Monza on October 19, 2003.

you're a bit late, my friend. The R-GT already raced, not in Estoril on October 5th but in Monza, on the 19th... althought being the first race and still being tuned, the results were lower than expected... Reiter team said they had not much time to prepare the car and just managed to get the car running reliably... now the problem was the lack of top speed. Monza was the last circuit of the 2003 championship... so they'll have some time until next years champ starts... let's wait to see what they can do.
