Re: crank pulley

You have to tear down the front of the car and remove the radiator to get to the pulley. You will need a 3/4 impact wrench, a TQ wrench, and a big puller.

I again recommend that you get a used motor rather than rolling the dice on the crank or main bearings being damaged.

Re: crank pulley

I've been told that you can loosen the crank pulley bolt by placing a breaker bar/socket on it (with or without a cheater bar) so that the breaker/cheater bar rests either on the frame or the floor (to the driver side) and just nudging the starter.

To remove the pully, you will have to remove enough stuff to allow access (clearance).

Re: crank pulley

Put the car in 3rd or 5th gear (forget which one did the trick for me), put the parking brake up. Have at long breaker bar ( i think the one i used is like 2 ft). Give it some oomph.

Re: crank pulley

Does the crank pully bolt turn counter clock wise, (left hand threads)?
