Thumbs up Mercedes CLK-LM

I decided to build some cars from Le Mans 1998, namely the Tamiya Toyota GT-One, with a decal set to convert to the previous years stripey paint job, and the Tamiya Nissan R390, with a transkit (full resin longtailed body and decals) to convert from Le Mans 1997 to 1998.

The Toyota is nearly finished, but I'm still awaiting the Tamiya Nissan kit to arrive (got the transkit, just nothing to build it onto!)

Now, to go with these two, I thought I could build the Tamiya Mercedes CLK-GTR, and with a decal set convert it to Le Mans 1998 spec, afterall, the car can't be that much different. WRONG!!! What a nightmare, every time I looked at a picture of the LM version, I spotted something else different. The wheels will have to be changed for a multispoke type, the front air intake is totally different, as is the scoop on the roof. There is also a scoop below the rear window. The venting infront of the front wheels is all filled in, as are the vents along the sides, also the vents behind the front wheels has been partially filled in. It's still not 100% accurate, but it is nearer than before. Shown below in grey primer, but since the pic it has been painted silver, but I'm still awaiting the decals so can't progress any further.

Pics when finished, hopefully!

Steve

Looks good Steve!
There was a GT-ONE going on ebay for £10, but I turned it down!
What do you reckon to the kit?

I'll have to do another photo sess, or pop round for the camera as you are passing or something!

The decals are made by a Danish company called DMC Decals. I believe their part no. is 24192. Quality was good, but there was no placement guide, only a couple of small photo's, some were a little tricky to place due to their size. I would certainly recommend some research of your own, picture wise, if you were thinking of doing this.
I just know doing the above mentioned Nissan R390 is going to be another nightmare.
