Re: Jas Motorsport - Castrol Honda NSX GT3 1/24 - Spa24 h race 2018

little progress on the nsx.
The wheels will be an optional, and 3d printed by KMP.
many guys want this body as slot racer, as well as many want her as a static model as we do.
As we seen before the special OZ rims she has (as well as the Callaway c7r gt3) doesn't exist in 1/24, so is interesting to make them as series.

I will offer options with/without wheels, as well as tires. In my model I used the rubber tires from Tamiya AMG Gt3, cause same category car (and wheels are identical in dimensions)

and another interesting news is that Decaldoc is making new liveries for this nsx. The first arriving is the CAT car, with female drivers as seen at the last Daytona rolex

Frank booked one of my bodyshells too. He will draw decals exactly on my body, and in 2019 there will be so many cool and interesting colored liverys for nsx racing all over the world (news from factory builder of the real racer....)

Ciao Paolo, lovely work on the Honda! I can hardly wait to see your proto finished! It will be a great base for so many great liveries!

Just AMAZING Paolo how you can take all these stock car bodies and give them the GT3 or LME treatment and have them come out looking so good.

You definitely have quite the skills and you turn them out so fast.
Very well done and you add a lot to the Forum's content.

Keep up the excellent work - you are one of the builders that keep me coming back to AF.

Cheers
John

Re: Jas Motorsport - Castrol Honda NSX GT3 1/24 - Spa24 h race 2018

Casting is slow, cause the shape of this model seems more complicated than porsche and my previous ones. As said I care a lot about the quality of the stuff I spread around.
Little by little I am mailing all the friends asking this body, and they are a lot, honestly much more than I expected (usually is porsche and ferrari the best sellers).

Also I wanted to resque my master. After such projects usually they are totalled by the caster guy (filler parts, plastiline allover). it is as you see your favourite model crashed under a truck...and I want to save her and keep.

so we are moving on.
Also a micro detail set to update to EVO version car is in progress, it is different in front and rear vents plus the extractor, nothing dramatic..)

Right now the Jas team and the NSX gt3s are in Suzuka for the upcoming endurance race. Of course my friend went to tamiya building and take also this year some drugs (read tamiya kits) for me and place them in nsx cockpit back to italy when race is over.
japan is amazing for such stuff... and I hope they can do a great race there.

Re: Jas Motorsport - Castrol Honda NSX GT3 1/24 - Spa24 h race 2018

after the production of the resins, it is now time finally to proceed with my model.
As said I will go for the 2018 castrol livery car. Many modellers took my body and some will convert it into the latest 2019 car, the one racing now in 2019. There are some differences, mostly in the front and rear vents, on bonnet, wheel arch and the rear under the lights.

One of the best american modeller ever, Jim drew, is building the cat car, and he is making a truly incredible masterpiece of the Evo caterpillar black car.. It is possible to see all his progress on facebook.

So I went on with mine and decided for a full open engine model. I would like to show the engine of this nice racer, so I cutted the body and made all the main modifications over the engine (mostly collectors, different frames, and all lower chassis will be different from street. Sadly at end the color will be basically mono tone (all is a declination of grey, dark grey, black and carbon fiber).

and I opened the side air intakes. Those I had to close for the moulding. think will be better with a proper PE grill there..

rear extractor made with 0,50 and 0,25 plasticard styrene

next step will be the cockpit modifications.

Re: Jas Motorsport - Castrol Honda NSX GT3 1/24 - Spa24 h race 2018

so, the cockpit now.
I copied the frames from jas motrsport fb page. they have several picture of the work in progress over the real 26 cars done at today racing allover the world both marked as honda and Acura.

steering wheel column and main seat are from AMG mercedes from tamiya. Misteriously tamiya made this seat too flat and without any pillow. no idea why so I will correct this soon too..

and a color base both for inner sub assembly and the white for the mighty colored Castrol livery. my next step..

Re: Jas Motorsport - Castrol Honda NSX GT3 1/24 - Spa24 h race 2018

so now is time to paint this girl.
Time ago I took the waterslide decals from decaldoc. Frank is the only kid around making those, but he is mostly doing accessories for slotracing and the Doslot GFK body is of course different from mine.
I think he makes very good stuff and I like a lot the printing of those sheets, very thin layer and quite resistant. negative point is of course white and yellows usually cant cover the surface, even more if the base of the vehicle is dark or carbon fiber. Keep this in mind if you plan for (even from decaldoc) the Caterpillar nsx gt3 car.

the decals I have are meant to be placed over a full blank white body. All the greens are integrated with the main castrol livery, so I had to cut the reds away and mask the green parts . In this passage is critical a proper masking.
Unfortunately the schema of the decal is not correct in some parts. I guess probably this have been made with the very first test car sent to Spa in 2018 , so at the end, my model will be the test one and not race config (numbers and other decals are different). Its ok for me. what I want is to see the stunning classical tricolor schema..

front grill decalized

and a little panel linering to evidence car volumes.

the car in reality is wrap. I used glossy from windsor and newton acrylic in airbrush

rear diffuser. Plasticard 0.50 and 0,25.

unfortunately decal of the drivers is too big and mistaken. cant use it.
Being the test car can be ok anyway..

clears are from the kit. they are very nice and clean and fit perfectly. To avoid the scary moment i had with my 997 i cutted the 3 sides.

grilles in position. they are assorted leftovers (generical photoetched net..)

cockpit progress. so sad all the tiny details will be basically invisible once closed..happy I have those pics for the detail work done.
Seat and steering column are fom amg gt3 with recreated sponge pillow (misteriusly missing in tamiya nice mercedes seat...dunno really why)

the nice 3d printed wheels now. I choosed theme to show the painting progress with those resin ones, that properly painted are identical to rubber ones (originally I had the amg gt3 ones)
