Question What do I do?

I'm looking for a used car for under $8000 (preferably under $5000 though) that has good performance and is reliable (when I say reliable I mean in it's restored state, I intend to put work into the car). The options I've come up with are:

~1991 BMW 850, but I'm concerned about the handling.(Don't want the 840, I don't need bore liners that wear out)

~1991 Mazda Miata , but I'm concerned about the girly looks and low top speed.

03 Volvo S40 (Am I just crazy?).

What dose everybody think of these? Does anyone have any other ideas?

You might like this link.

I say go in for Japanese. Nothing more reliable than that. If you shop around, those may not be the only options around. Seriously.
What about a non-Turbo Toyota Supra? Its a pretty good choice there.

No matter what car you choose, you need to make sure that you know the whole service history of the car.

Man! That thing looks great! I've always wanted to make an old Z into a '64 Aston Martin DB5 lookalike.

That thing looks incredible! Thanks for posting this! It looks a lot like an old Jaguar E Type.
