Re: ZX2 Performance?

well, considering there were 2 '99-'00 SI's the first time i went to the track completely stock w/ only 17's as my mods... and one of my friends was driving one of them, who i know is a better driver than me... and i beat both of them w/ my slow 15.84... i'd reconsider if i were you. never seen a stock '99-'00 SI run magazine times even... never seen one break past my 15.84. now, put i/h/e on them and its a different story. they'd put my 15.84 (stock mind you) to shame. ive raced many an '99-'00 SI and never been beaten by one... at the track or on the street. i even had a friend w/ a '99 that had i/h/e, high flow cat, cam gears, udp and hondata... and no matter who drove that thing against me from a stop... it couldn't beat me w/ only NGP0. debate all you want but i got alot of experience w/ racing SI's of any year and only w/ a superb driver can they hit magazine times even.

as for the 02+ SI's and the ZX2... BS. if i ever see in person, a MTX ZX2 lose to an 02+ SI when both are stock... ill eat my whole garbage can full of paper shreds... then kick the ZX2 drivers ass. usually companies upgrade to faster equipment as they progress from year to year or body style to body style... you'd think honda would too... but the new SI's are a fucking joke. been there, slaughtered that...

Re: ZX2 Performance?

I have seen a few of them hit 15.3-.4 at teh tracks and 02+ run 15.8-.9

the reason its slower is weight, if you put a 02+ motor in a 99-00 si it would be a 15.2-.3 car but the new sport compacts have a more luxory feel so they weigh more, that why the SVTf weighs 300 more then a regular focus.

Re: ZX2 Performance?

ther is not v6 swap fro teh zx2, only a few that MIGHT fit with a lot of modification but no one has tried. its cheaper to mod the stock motor.

Re: ZX2 Performance?

1. its ZETEC not ztech
2. there is not manifold for the zx2 worth its price(people usually port the stocker)
3. there is not racing head either(people DO PnP the stocker)
4. a Muffler wont do anything for performance and the S/R is only 2in you want 2.5 for a good exaust flow.
5. there is not SC currently fro sale and the only good turbo kit is almost 6k not counting the parts needed to make you motor take the power (about 10k total)

Re: ZX2 Performance?

intake(iceman or hotshot),
header(zxtuner or jba if you have emissions,
exaust(2.5 if you are going N/A, 3in for turbo),
PnP head and intake mani,
10.5 compression if you are going N/A(about 8.5 or so if going turbo)
Ford Racing Wires
esslinger cam gear(s)[if you go with or w/o vct]
AFX UDP
B&M short shifter
custom superchip
bigger TB
ARP bolts all around

cams are up to what ever you want

thanks for all of the help u are giving me...u have any idea how much all of your suggestions cost...i am trying to decide what to do first..money doesnt grow on trees for me unfortunately, im excited to start working on my car..but kind of upset bc u cannot drop a v6 in the car..that would be the best way to push out 300+ hp in my opinion. if i get all of what u just mentioned done..(with exception of the turbo) how fast should the car be?..i would be upset if i did all this work to be barely in the 14's.. seems like these cars are harder to modify than a civic or integra... 6k for a turbo alone... thats crazy..u can get a turbo for a civic around 3k. and civics have more hp stock..why is is twice the price for a zx2? give me some positive input about the zx2, seems like im only finding negatives since i got her.

Re: ZX2 Performance?

300hp is gonna be about 10k+ turbo set up and your not gonna pass emissions if your state has them.

all that stuff listed should get you in teh 13's if properly tuned and a good driver.

the price deffernce is in the market you can get a 6k turbo for the zx2 but it will only give you 200 or so HP and its its not very high quality. and it also comes down to sales look at how many turbo Civics ther are and look at how many peopel are trying to turbo an escort and a person that is gettign a 3k turb oisnt getting much in the way of quality and testing.

you have to think this aint a focus motor so we have to make our own market.

Pro's: the zx2 has great geaing, makes more tq at the wheels then a 99-00 Si makes at the crank, it weights little compaired to other cars, good driver can run times not to far behind the 99-00 Si, or SVT focus(both 18-19k cars) and run about even with a 02+ si(about 19k). intake, header and a chip wil have you running with 18k cars

Re: ZX2 Performance?

there are ways young paduan... 300 hp can be acheived for less than 5k if you know your shit. meaning, build your own turbo setup from junkyard cars... pnp the head yourself, port the intake mani yourself. in other words you gotta know the ins and outs of this motor. its not tough to learn but you won't learn it here. the best place to ask questions is www.teamzx2.com. use the search function before you ask though. they get kinda pissy if you ask the same question too many times. happy hunting.

ZX2s arent slow, the performance parts for them are about as much as a civic has. They may have discontinued production but they are becoming as popular. My 1998 ZX2 has iceman intake, borla exhaust, diablo sport chip, S/R ECU, 5spd B&M short throw shifter, eibach/tokico lowered 2" rear-1.5" front, Monsterflow Foam Filter.

My specs:

162hp @5850rpm
137ft-lbs torque at 4800rpm
118mph top speed
1/4 in 15.4 @ 98.3mph

I've taken civics, 240sx's, SI's, even Focus SVT's.... so dont come in romping on the ZX2 and oh yea im actually selling it to by a stillen maxima.... its a hot little car but 8500 for the stillen S/C Maxima w 55k on it..cant beat that in a 5spd

1. Get an intake (Iceman with a Monster Flow Foam Filter)
2. the JBA Shorty Header Setup, Magnaflow Cat and Borla Cat-Back
3. SuperChips or Diablo Sport Chip
4. Get an Esslinger UDPulley
5. Esslinger (or equiv) Adjustable Timing Cam Gear
6. Esslinger (or equiv) Intake/Exhaust Cams
7. Aftermarket Thermostat (the fan turns on at 230 degrees, one that will turn on at 160 degrees)
8. Bigger MAF and TBody (i have a 65mm)

these are minor things for performance, turbos and super chargers should be done afterwards with bigger fuel rails and injectors

check out this site for performance

www.zxtuner.com

robs a good guy

The only V6 that will fit in the ZX2 is the Ford Probe GT's six cylinder. its a 2.4 liter but some minor movements of the coolant and you cant run with an a/c, ive seen those mods. As well as a Rotary powered zx2 ive seen. Cosmo stuck a V8 in a Focus...anything is possible

ok lol that BS lol
1. if measured at teh wheels no way in hell are you getting 162whp, of measured at the crank an s/r already has 140tq so you are low even thougth u claim to have more mods

2. top seed would be over 118 ive gone over 125

2. with 162hp Crank OR at the wheels you should be lower 15's but NOT at 98mph you'dd need a lot more for that
