i was jsut wondering fo a axle back exhaust what factors make your exhaust louder im not sure what i should do I know custom pipng is one way to go but should I get some resonators(cherry bomb) to amke it louder and will removing the cat help, also adding on a set of headers? i'm stumped on something simple so can some one clarify this for me

I am not sure if you are wanting it to be louder or stay quite (and still add performance).....

If you are looking to make it louder (and add hp)...anything that 'frees up' the exhaust flow will make it louder (and in most cases give you performance benefits). Replace the header. Run custom piping (about 2.25" or 2.5" for N/A), that way you can REMOVE the resonator (which is included in most 'cat-back' systems). Buy a reputable free flowing muffler (I like DragunFire...loud as hell and not to raspy). Removing the cat. will make it a bit louder but more of a raspy tone.

If you are looking to keep it quite (good luck)...you will never get the performance that you could get if you just let it get loud.(don't get me wrong you will get some gains). Try just replacing the muffler with something like DynoMax or a generic 'turbo' muffler.

I would probably go with 2.25" (assuming you are going to keep it naturally aspirated) and remove the resonator...removing the cat is up to you but good luck finding someone to weld the test pipe (seeing as how it is illegal and all). I will be removing my cat soon.

I think that your muffler may just be made to keep it hush hush. Like I said before DragunFires are great. The VEX140/VEX120 (angle cut tip) comes with a removeable 'silencer', if it is to loud for you. The silencer adds back pressure though and results in power loss at high RPM.(as does any silencer)

Follow this link to see some pictures of the DragunFires.

They are expensive but have a LIFETIME warranty.
