Where to buy NEW motors?
Looking for something a little differant... where can you buy NEW motors? Im not talking about swaps, or like the Spoon racing motors... but like a normal DOHC VTEC B16a ~ NEW???
Does anyone know who supplies motors like this, and im not talking about going down to your local Honda dealer and getting raped on the cost of a new motor, im looking for a place that distributes them where I can use my nice dealer status Just wondering...

Where else would you get new motors other than Honda? I'm not trying to be a jerk, but seriously...

Ok, Who makes Honda engines again? They make and sell cars and parts for money. They're not a wholesale distributor that sells them by the bundle to ARD Performance. BTW They don't make B16's anymore.

Honda Japan has I dont know how many stockpiled in a warehouse. Would probobly cost close to US$10,000 to get one to the US though.

sadly the B series is dead, but they've had a good production run. When was the first B20a but in a prelude? '87ish? then the first B16a came out in 89, and finally the last of the B20a were used in the CRV which has only just been replaced. It was used in the 3rd gen Accord and Prelude, the 2nd and 3rd gen Integra, the 1st gen CRV and of course the 4th, 5th and 6th gen Civic/CRX. Thats more models than any other Honda engine, including the famous and more numerous D series.

Dude, Have you noticed? This new generation of engines have the ability to be twice as bad the old B-series (Ok atleast 35% ) And they looks like they're all interchangable, Just like the old series!!! I'm sure the fact that the new 2.0 Si engine is a spinoff of the RSX means a little more than they're similar in a few ways. If they didn't have such heavy-ass (And might I add ugly-ass) chasis's to place them in, I'd be a little more excited

I find that the best looking of the new generation honda's is the Civic(not SI). I can just imagine an RSX type S motor in one. Swap of the future?

You can buy new engines from local chain auto parts stores such as Parts USA etc. The only thing, is that for the most part, they only sell engines that are in production now. But definately check there, any chain auto parts store for the most part.

tell you what, get a job at honda and you can have all the honda parts you want, for yourself that is, for dealer price. but a new engine from Honda is still going to cost more than a JDM swap from a reputible buisness. BTW Hondas large stock pile is in Loudon Tenn.. Tell me where you live and I will try to hook you up with the location of the nearest part center or factory.

AFAIK, Honda does not sell turn-key engines through any US chain store (unlike GM, Ford and Mopar).
I think your best bet would be to call up a dealership parts department. They certainly can get new engines direct from Honda, but you can also expect the price to be astronomical. |
