Question Wrx is being weird

Hey everyone! My car has been giving me trouble lately in 5th and 6th gear! If I drive normal and happy the car is happy but the moment I give it the beans in 5th or 6th around 3k RPM it feels like I push the clutch in. All other gears are fine when they go past or far above 3k. I do get a clutch smell when it happens but wouldn't the other gears be having the same problem?

Thanks for any and all help!

Re: Wrx is being weird

Clutch is slipping.

The final test would be to go out on the road where you can safely lug the car. Put it in 6th at a low speed, say 45mph. It would normally cruise there at a low RPM, but once in gear and cruising smash the gas pedal.

If speed increases slowly the clutch is fine, if RPMs go up but speed doesn't your clutch is on its way out.
