2000 Ex v-10 No Start
I have a 2000 v-10 and it will not start. I went to drive it yesterday, it started, idled a bit rough, would not accelerate and died. It re-started acted the same and died again. Now it will not restart. I have checked the following: fuel pressure = 39-40 psi KOEO and cranking, power to injectors and ground pulse, removed air boot form back side of MAF and it will run on carb spray, tried to clean MAF with compressed air, checked elec connections on MAF (look OK). Have not been able to scan for codes, but wondering if anyone has any other ideas on things to check as I won't get access to a scanner for a few days? Is the fuel pressure correct (saw spec somewhere else for a different Ford for 37-43 psi)? Any help or ideas would be appreciated!

We might need to see a code. Could be the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail.

You can check the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor. I would pull a coil and install a ground could use a jumper cable make sure you have spark if you have spark it is a fuel problem.
Or remove a tube going to the air nozzle and spray some starting fluid or carb cleaner into it if it starts its a fuel problem. An ohm meter will go from zero to one if either sensor is working. Sensor unplugged and somebody trying to start. |

It turned to be bad fuel! I drained one of our ATV's and poured the gas into the Ex, figured 2-3 gallons into 30+ shouldn't be an issue. Problem was I didn't drive it for several weeks and water / contamination settled to the pump pick-up. I found it by bleeding a sample off from the pressure gauge. Continued to bleed fuel for about 30-45 seconds while cranking the engine and it fired up with the pressure gauge open. Let engine run with gauge open for another minute or so an now seems to be fine.

Glad to hear that you found it and that it was an inexpensive repair.
