Front end chip guard

I was talking to my friend the other day and he showed me a clear plastic-type chip guard that he had gotten for his S4. He told me that during the first couple of weeks he had been driving (mostly highway miles) he had gotten a few paint chips, which was why he brought it in after that for the chip guard. The dealer applied the chip guard to the front end as well as the side mirrors. Overall, it looks pretty good, and I could only tell it was there if I got up really close.

My question is has anyone gotten this for their BMW? I've heard that the application/installation is expensive, but is it worth it? If you have info about this please let me know. I'd really appreciate it!

BTW, here's a link to a website that talks about it:

Thanks.

I have very few chips on my 96 with 75k miles on it. I've seen the part too but I don't know of anyone that has used it.

It's likely that I'll be doing mostly highway miles, which is why I want to prevent chipping as much as possible. How is the paint on the new BMW's anyway? It seems like the paints of all cars have been getting softer and softer these days, although I haven't heard many BMW owners complaining.
