A few questions about my 80 Prelude
4 weeks ago i picked up a 1980 Honda prelude for 1000 bucks but 2 weeks later it kept stalling, then a week later the auto kept slipping out of gear.
After visiting a few auto repair places i figured that i had 2 problems, the stalling and the tranny, i need a new transmission and carberator. I decied to leave the tranny for now (found a few on the net for about $400) and fix the carb using a repair kit. I am new to mechanics and dont really know what im doing. I know a little but not enough. The car has a new paint job and is in general good condiction appart from the parts i need. I have a few questions.... How can i find out the exact details of the car, eg: engine size vin number (under the bonet has been painted over) transission number (for a replacement) How hard is a carb rebuild? I pulled it out today without any major propblem but it looks pretty complicated, Im going to get a rebuild kit for about $70 from ADP so save some $ because the guy in the auto repair quoted me $800 at least!!!! Anyway if anyone could answer these small question i would much appreciate it. Thanks |

Re: A few questions about my 80 Prelude
First off. Congrats on having a 1st gen! Lets see some pics of that bad boy. Second off, most of those questions can be solved by searching either google, or pp.com (preludepower)
