Re: MOTY 2009 Entries

To be honest I like the non-composite pictures a lot more but that is simply personal taste I guess... There are some awesome models with composite pics though !
And this contest simply is about the "best model of the year", no categories only the best model whatever it is will win... Which makes it really simple and easy, which is part of the appeal.

About the idea of more pictures... I probably saw about 90% of the models being build here so I know how they look from another angle, but that makes me a real AF addict, doesn't it

Re: MOTY 2009 Entries

Wow shut down quick. Im not saying its hard to do all im saying is its more fair for everyone. Also im only pointing this out for future contests, not MOTY09.

As for WIP threads, that gives the opportunity for people to know who built the model. Thus favoring the builder more than the model itself. I think we should leave it out like we did.

All im trying to point out is ways we can make MOTY even more fun and fair at the same time.

WE NEED MORE VOTES PEOPLE!!! Please vote.

Not an easy task given all the great models.

Re: MOTY 2009 Entries

Its really a shame that not even all people who entered the contest submitted the votes. This is your last chance - we will be accepting votes until midnight today, Sunday, January 17th. Please vote.

Re: MOTY 2009 Entries

I didn't want to vote this year, because I really disagree with some points of the rules...
Especially one:
I don't care if it's free or not, easy or not, but as long as rules ask one picture I consider that composite pictures are a kind of cheat, one picture should be one picture and that's it for everyone, contenders deal to find the one which would resume the best what is their model.
Moreover it influences voting as much for the pic as for the model itself, as we can't see what is behind the picture (no WIP links etc) because composite pictures show more details...
And I was the first victim of that point, giving more attention to composite picture than to the model, and yes, I don't think it's fair for people who posted only one view and then couldn't show as much as composite pictures whereas their models would deserve to show more too.
But it's poster decision and choice and rules are known and discussed before entering...
I was a bit embarassed by that, so I simply decided not to vote.
But that said, some models really deserves a vote, and deserve to be congratulated, and posters participation has to be rewarded at least by a maximum of votes.
So here I'm going to PM my votes though in the coming seconds.
Good luck to everyone !

Re: MOTY 2009 Entries

Voting was up for 2 weeks, if you can't decide by then, then the votes dont count.

I know picking the models this year was vey tough but there was avery long timeline in voting.

heck picking the president of the USA is only one day to vote , in 2 weeks, you should've had them in..

just my 2 cents

Still a deadline is a deadline, which is a very basic concept and it exists for a good reason, so spare me the philosophical rhetoric.

I was looking, but couldn`t find the exact deadline, so please excuse this if it was already addressed, but was it maybe midnight GMT time?
We are at a little past 9:00pm on the 17th if that is true. Just wondering.....

Come on everybody. This contest was supposed to be fun.I strongly disagree with all these bitter voices coming up.

Hey, letīs enjoy this contest and discuss the rest of the year about the rules...

Re: MOTY 2009 Entries

I'm very happy about the turnout this year. As in past years it was slow to start and was good to see it became another filled year.
I compliment each and every builder here as well as those that entered their build in MOTY this year.
Everyone deserves an atta boy.
Thanks to the guys that run this, a thankless job no less. I feel this is a great part of the AF model section. Lots can be learned here and it only make me build that much better.
Thanks guys!!
Chris
