Unhappy reverse lights problems

I just got a 1996 328is BMW, when i was backing my car up to move it into my garage my dad noticed my reverse lights weren't workin so i looked at the fuses and check to see if there was a blown fuse. then i took out the reverse lights out of both tail lights and the bulbs were fine and they still won't work for me. anyone got any suggestions.
thanks,
roger

my 1995 318i is having the same problems, sometimes they work, most of the time not. I think I have a bad switch in my transmission. Is yours an automatic or standard? from what I have read standard- the switch in the transmission is a common problem. for the automatic I think there are some micro switches somewhere around the shift lever.
best of luck, you might also try some searches at other sites if you can not find what you think need.
