can be done at home, but the hardest part is getting the fan and fan clutch off. my 2001, i messed it up pretty good, and by doing so learned a lot. there is a big nut type shaft that is between the water pump and the back of the clutch for the fan. to do it the easy way, put a long wrench on one of the bolts that hold the part the belt runs over and get a big buddy to hold it while you put a big long wrench on the shaft and turn it to the left, it may take a few persuasions with a brute force, but evetually the shaft will start to turn on it's own. it is a fine type thread, so it will take a few spins, and the fan and clutch come off as one unit. remove the belt, unbolt the pulley from the water pump, and ta-da. there is the pump. the other drawback, is i don't know about 93, but my 01 is dexcool, the orange crap and down here letting it drain on the driveway is worse tha hit and run, and you will have to drain the coolant to do this.
hope this helps. i'm just a driveway mechanic, and only know how once i've had to learn the hard way. it's a good thing i had an electric fan set up, cause after i figuired out the right way, that fan and cluctch ain't goin nowhere but the dump!!!

Re: changing water pump on 93 jimmy

Replacing the water pump on a '93 is straight forward. Fan clutch unbolts, uses green coolant, NOT the orange Dexcool, no hidden bolts. When it's all said and done, it's a gravy job. A little over an hour start to finish. If you run a search in the Blazer forum, you'll probably find a "How-To" with pictures and everything!

see "old master" up about 3-4 replies from here. if the shaft is round, it must be as old master said and unbolts from the front. my '01 has a hex-nut shapes shaft and a 1 1/4 inch combo long handle fit fine.
wish i could be more help.

Loosen the nuts before removing the belt. The belt will keep the pump shaft from turning while you loosen the nuts.
