How to Fix A 95 Aspire Manual Trany

Just a bit of info on fixing 1 of the manual tranys that will not shift and have the free floating shift lever, I Took Mine out and Very Carefully Split the Case, I Found a ball and socket type shifting mechanism, the socket is fixed to a metal plate that had stress cracked and let the ball slip out of the socket and therefore had no shifting ability, I Then took it to a trany shop and let them remove that plate and I then took it to a weld shop and had it welded, Took it back and let the trany shop and they reasemble & glued the case back and I now have a working trany for a 100.00 labor. Beets 250.00-300.00 for a JY trany that might do the same thing. If and When you Split the case be real carefull because the are ball bearings and pins that might fall out on you plus the metal magnant.

Good Luck
Tom
