2011 escape

My friends 2011 escape was driving down the highway an d all of sudden a red wrench popped up on her dashboard an then her suv started to slow down even tho she was pushing on the gas. She coasted to the side of highway turned the engine off restarted an pushed gas then it moved again. The suv never lost dad power an it stayed started. Just lost gas power. What could it be a fluke or should she have it looked at? Before she hits the highway again.

Re: 2011 escape

Sometimes the red light that comes on will distract from the other parts of the gauge cluster. And a person won't notice that their oil pressure has gone to zero or their temp has pegged to maximum. Then after they have pulled over and things have reset, nothing shows up. If the CEL (Check Engine Light) is on, take it to an auto parts store to have the codes read to see what the real problem is. Without knowing the code is, it could be too many things to list that are possibly wrong.
