Are Spec-V Sentra's mechanically terminal?

I was wanting to buy a 2002 spec-v nissan sentra but i had recently read reviews of numerous people who have had major engine problems with the 02 and 03 models. The Pre-Cat is said to fall apart and get sucked into the engine, destroying it. I also heard that bolts in the intake manifold are prone to coming loose and being sucked into the engine also causing much havoc. Also heard that they have problems with stalling at low speeds and while idleing. Is this all familiar to anyone? Are these people just neglecting their cars and resulting in them running shitty and falling apart, or are these manufacturing errors by nissan that are common and going to happen to every spec-v?
Does Anyone know about this?

If your question was to buy a vehicle one to two years old I may have looked into your question further with whatever you're trying to get across,and whatever that is I don't have a clue. I have sold quite a few 02 - 03 Sentra's and have never come across your type question.

In my mind, when you shop for a vehicle 8 years old, the only factor becomes present condition, forget all the bull about recalls and heresay.

I don't mean to be disrespectfull, but I personally think you're surfing how to buy a vehicle in your price range all wrong, I consider the Sentra very tinny but excellent value for bucks, and that goes for any production year.

Hey, the guy is just trying to ask whether Sentra SE-R Spec V owners are having common problems!

Sorry dude, I don't know much about this car. Post a thread in the Sentra board to get a more refined group of answers, or just search the web. Chances are if you have to look long and hard to find the issues, they aren't common or severe. If there is a common problem with a car it gets around pretty quick, the Sentra is a tough little car and a good value in the sport/performance for cheap market.

What Ray says about current condition is important though. Take the car to a mechanic, if it's in good shape now and hasn't been abused, that's the most important thing. Everybody says a Toyota Camry is bulletproof, the first one I had was a POS - it was abused in its former life, and had a lot of years on the road, so don't go by reputation alone.
