New To The VW World

okay here it goes... i just bought a 1982 Rabbit convertible and i hit a speed bump today and the car shut off. it will roll but not fire. i have read a few threads on here about the fuse box but i am wondering if it is worth the time to rewire from the starter, coil and relay back. i have checked all fuses and connections and they are tight. i sprayed the connection with cleaner and still nothing. like i said i am new to the world of VW and just need some advice on what to look for or where to start. Thank You Guys and Gals for your time.

You'll find Rabbits are notorious for wiring issues, before I got rid of mine I landed up rewiring everything, the Hanyes manual on Rabbits is pretty decent and covers about everything, you'll probably find the scmatics in the back useful during these times. Though in this case it sounds like you may be over looking something simple, check all the fuses and make sure they are all in, look for any unexplained loose connections under the hood as well, if that fails start honing your wire tracing skills.
