stolen 350...
what joy do you reap from hi-jacking the best GM engine ever made and putting these moparizations into it? your hemi is nothing more than a GM standard 350 with hemi-spherical heads. GET YOUR OWN ENGINE!!!

Re: stolen 350...
Perhaps a little history is needed. In the 60's, MOPARs were crushing everyone else with the original HEMI motors. Then NASCAR made the rule that no engine could exceed 350cid, which of course disallowed both the HEMI and also the 360cid that Dodge had. (At this time, both Ford and chebbie already had 350's). So Chrysler came up with the 340, which started winning again. Don't be mad that NASCAR requirements are helping to dictate engine size, Chrysler is just doing what Ford and Chebby have been doing for 30 years - building motors to the maximum size that NASCAR allows. I hardly think that Chrysler "borrowed" a chebbie 350 and moparized it. I'd have to agree, mail your proof to D-C corp. Aren't you just mad that that HEMI Dodge truck roasted you from the light the other day?

Re: stolen 350...
(It's actually a completely new design.) And not all motors are hemispherical heads these days.

Re: stolen 350...
Well, the way I see it, us Chevy guys dont need to be squabbling with you Dodge guys, and vise versa. Because no matter what, we have at least one thing in common, we're American! All of us, the Chevy guys, the Dodge guys, and the Ford guys need to turn our attention to the japanese menace: toyota and now nissan. What you guys think?

Bad breath-ern
In September of 1998 I purchased a brand new Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab LT with the 5.3 liter V-8.
In January 2002, I traded it in on a new 2003 Dodge 2500 quad cab 4X4 HEMI. It puts the Chevy to shame in every category, but fuel economy. Didn't GM sell the rights to the 350 engine to Mercury marine and then purchase it back? Why steal something that even a marine manufacturer doesn't want. Enjoy the chevy. I'll keep my dodge..... |

Re: stolen 350...
The Chevy 350 is one of, if not the best engine ever made. I have one in a 1999 Suburban right now has 108k and runs like new. I agree with the guy that the big three need to address the new Nissan threat to their sovreignty

Re: stolen 350...
chrysler had the hemis back in the 50*s first like 331 CI / a lot of the 392*s were used in drag cars.I think the 426 first came out in like 1963- chevys answer the 348(58-61) 409(62-64)( nice boat moorings )There was even some kind of hybrid z-7 or z9 that was like 427 ci with the big three bump valve covers--then chevy played catch up till 65 when the first 396*s came out/then uped it to 427 for 66.except for like one year( I think in the 30*s) chevy ran all straight 6 motors up until 1954.God bless Zora Duntov or they still would be.The biggest problem was chrysler didnt have a fast small block the 273 and the 318 were dependable but not fast.In 68 they solved that with the first 340*s.So who was stealing from who?????I drove a lot of muscle cars and two of the fastest pure stock cars I ever drove were the 67 GTX with the 370 hp super commando 440 auto and the 70 camaro with the 375 hp bb 396 4/sp.chevy -chrysler- ford-there machines love them all.PS the last stock good 350(LT-1- 370 hp) was in 1970.blame the EPA.

Re: stolen 350...
I agree that the Chevy 350 was the best motor ever made I stress WAS. Since GM so wisely stopped making it over their slapping knocking engines they have now, that they say are perfectly normal I will buy Dodge thank you. The rules have changed. I also have read on another site that GM is building engines in China. So what is American anymore?
