Penske Panoz Reunion

We had a fun track weekend at Daytona this past weekend. It was put on by the Audi Club of Ohio and PDG (Performance Driving Group).
The car on the left is chassis #9 and mine on the right is chassis #1.
This is the first time I have seen another Penske car on the track.

Maybe we should get more of of us together next year. It would be fun to see how many Panoz of all models we could get together at one time for a track day.

Anyone interested?

Don

Re: Penske Panoz Reunion

It would be nice to run with some other Panoz cars. How far north do you guys go. I go from Watkins Glen to VIR. Just picked this up this year and having a blast with it. http://www.catesracing.com/flp/nasa/..._0046.JPG.html

Interested in the chassis number. Is it in the vin tag on the firewall? if so is it the last 3 characters?

Re: Penske Panoz Reunion

The chassis number is on the vin tag on the cowl. I don't remember if it is the first digit or the last, I say it is the last digit but will check when I pull the car out of the trailer.

I go as far as VIR, love the place would be a nice place for a reunion. Florida cars love Sebring too!

Re: Penske Panoz Reunion

I found your post about the chassis number interesting. I thought I have chassis #9. First three characters on my vin are 1P9 and last 3 are P09. With an in service date from the log book of May 06. Not that it matters much, but would be interested in knowing which chassis I have.

Re: Penske Panoz Reunion

Don, I'll ask the question. How many Panoz and or Penske cars are there playing on the east coast or beyond and would be interested in a VIR event sometime in 14 to get together and share some car and setup tips?

Ok now....lets just not crash this site with too many simultaneous visitors.....like well you know. Regards

Thats awesome!

Looking at this car really reminds me of the Ferrari 599....beautiful machine and I'm sure it is a lot of fun around the track!

I would be interested in coming up to VIR (from Tallahassee) or down to Sebring in '14.

Re: Penske Panoz Reunion

Hi, I'm interested in the spoiler/splitter design on your #86 car. I haven't seen one like it and it appears to be very well done. Can you share some information on it?
I want to add a splitter to my GTS but would like use something proven if at all possible.

Thanks, Bill.

Re: Penske Panoz Reunion

It's good to see some interest on a reunion. Let's monitor the replies in the next few months and see what we can figure out.
Bill as far as the spoiler /splitter combo I designed and fabricated everything myself. I can take pictures soon and pass it on.
Traveling right now but I will get back to this when I return.

Happy New Year all!

The pix would be much appreciated Don.
I raced my vintage car there back in 2000 at the inaugural race when the track reopened. What a great track. I'm sure I can scare myself silly with the Panoz.
Thanks, Bill.

Panoz - America's Most Exclusive Sports Car

RELEASED BY RACER MAGAZINE: If you're a sports car racing fan, you've probably looked at the incredible machines roaring by you at tracks such as Road Atlanta or Sebring and thought it would be a dream come true to drive one of those cars. Starting this month, Panoz LLC can make that dream come true, as the company begins producing road versions of the famous Panoz cars.
Surrounded by the cars that made the Panoz name famous at the world's most celebrated circuits, racing media got a sneak peek at the new Panoz showroom and museum in Braselton, Ga., Wednesday night. Dominating the company's 10,000 square foot showroom and museum are reminders of the Panoz racing heritage – and now, clients can purchase street legal versions of any of these amazing cars.
“We will be producing all these cars, on a one-off customer basis, for the street,” explained John A. Leverett, Panoz LLC Vice President of Sales. “If you want a Panoz GTR-1 for the street, we will produce one for you. If you want a Panoz roadster, we'll make one for you. Each car will have an all-new carbon/aluminum chassis, new powertrain, all new custom interior – but we won't do full run production. Customers will get to choose enough on the car to make it uniquely theirs.
“To have a car with the Panoz racing heritage, with all the bodywork and substance that regulations will allow on the street, will be a very distinctive experience.”
