Re: Who's GTRA is this for sale?
Don't remember the guys name but I can find out. He is from Lawrenceville, GA and is in the construction business but if you friend want a real car I am going to sell my GTS car with a fresh engine, transmission, clutch and a whole lot of extras. If anyone is interested PM me and I will get intouch. I love the Panoz but I bought a GTA car and will be running the TransAm series this year.

BTW, the car belonged to Bob Lutz apparently, and he just sold the car to WireWheel.

I could not think of Bob's name but you are right. I have raced with him several times. He's a nice guy. The GTA Howe cars are very nice. Wish I hade and extra 60K+ to order one.

Re: Who's GTRA is this for sale?
I just might sell the panoz for one of those. A set of tires is $560 according to Howe's website. I dont think they are as fast as my panoz but the chassis looks stronger and I think I can make the rest happen ;-)

Re: Who's GTRA is this for sale?
I saw the car posted on www.wirewheel.com for a bit more than it was listed on Racingjunk.com by the owner. I am just getting into the sport an always luv'ed "powered-by-Ford" cars and have owned a bunch of vintage Mustangs before. What are all your thoughts on the Panoz for a 'beginner' (although I ran at Summit Point during a one-day training class with BSR for my former occupation and luv'ed it !!! Now that I have more time on my hands, thinking I would like to get back into it with either SCCA or NASA and do some open track days at Summit or VIR. Also looking at a SCCA GT1 '67 Mustang in about the same price range as the Panoz GTRA #34 car -- any thoughts, suggestions, ideas, inputs are certainly welcome as I have a lot to learn !! Thanks...

Re: Who's GTRA is this for sale?
I think the Panoz is a great beginner car. My GTRA has been an excellent car to learn in, and to improve as I've gained experience. The frame and suspension are solid, but allow for modifications that will increase cornering speeds/forces. The drive train is totally Ford and you can do virtually anything you want to it to increase horsepower. Parts are fairly plentiful and available. Sourced from Ford, PAD, the Coleman catalog and you can find virtually the entire car. Wirewheel and others have a good stock of spare body panels and other original parts/pieces. Original documentation from Panoz is a good starting point. With good engineering and some $$$ the cars can be very fast while staying pretty reliable. This forum is a great sounding board for ideas and ways to improve the cars. Best resource going. This is my 4th year with the car and I've increase the car's speed each and every year. Easy to say since I started out slower than my grandmother.

Re: Who's GTRA is this for sale?
Agree totally. Basic car is the one of the safest, most reliable V8 track cars you can get for the money already comprehensively sorted. Great for driving schools and such because it was designed and built with full safety for the passenger as well. Even with the bone stock 5.0 EFI motor it is more than entertaining. If you want to upgrade in any area there are virtually unlimited options. Because it is so readily maintained, hardy and easy to drive at entertaining speeds, it will maintain its value if kept up.
If you want to later race in various amateur big bore classes/series/sanctioning bodies, it can be upgraded. As with any car prepared to such high levels of horsepower, braking, and cornering, maintenance and development costs will significantly increase. I still believe that it will beat the vast majority of other options in those venues for reliability, serviceability and cost. You will find owner/drivers of these cars in every state of tune from bone original to monster on this site so there is assistance no matter what level you are. Because they are relatively rare, they attract a lot of interest. That is part of the fun as I love to meet other participants and talk cars, driving, shop. In my opinion, you can't go wrong. Mike |

Re: Who's GTRA is this for sale?
Well said Mike.
One word was our first attraction to these car, SAFETY. These are purpose built race cars. Purpose built by the professional engineering team at Panoz Auto Development. Not built in someone’s backyard or garage. Good Luck, Chris BTW, we have one of our GTWCs for sale.
