'02 Monte Carlo coolant leak

I have a 2002 Monte Carlo SS with 3.8L engine. There is coolant leaking from a L-shaped tube that appears to be running from the serpentine belt tensioner to the head.
1. What is it called?
2. Is it a dealer part?
3. How hard is it to replace?
4. Pin hole leak, will sealant suffice?

Re: '02 Monte Carlo coolant leak

My fellow Monte Carlo owner, how are ya? These stupid things crack ALL the time... they thought it would be a brilliant idea to run coolant through the belt tensioner bracket lol... however, do me a favor and make sure that the coolant is leaking from those elbows, and not the lower intake manifold gasket...

1) it is a dealer item.. there are 2 of them, replace them both... they should know exactly what you are talking about when you ask for them..

2) if you are mechanically inclined, this is not hard to do at all... remove the alternator and back out the tensioner bracket (3 bolts)... all i can tell you is make sure to remove the old o-rings, make sure the area where the tubes go is free of corrosion.... also, before you install the new ones, make sure the area is dry, and spread some rtv sealant around the tubes to get a better seal... look around online for information on how to do the replacement, you should find plenty of resources.... thats pretty much all I can do for ya online... good luck! let me know if you need any more info..

Cheers....
