Keypad code for 2000 Grand Marquis

Just bought a used 2000 Grand Marquis and would like to use the kepad on the outside door, the owners manual says that there is a code on the owners wallet (dont have) or taped to the computer module, now under the dash I know where the plug in terminal for the computer is but there is nothing taped to that, am i looking in the wrong place

Have you looked in the trunk ? There is a string you can pull to unlock the trunk from inside. It has a tag with numbers.

I just bought a 2003 Grand Marquis myself and I've into the same problem, and I've seen the same thing you did, the big plug under the dash. I was told by the dealer I bought it from that the code is behind the passenger door panel. I would be very careful, however in trying to remove the panel. I haven't done it on mine because I don't know how the panel is attached. Pulling on it might break a clip or something.

fyi to everyone.

when these cars are sold to a customer there is no automatic location for the stickers you are all looking for.

the new vehicle owner can put them anywhere they want. look everywhere. if you cannot find one, contact a dealer. they may be able to get you the master code from the VIN number.

My sister has a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria and My Father In-Law has a 2004 Lincoln and he had a 2003 Lincoln before that that he totaled out and they all were on the trunk hinge but I'm preety sure it was on the drivers side hinge not the passenger side.

Re: Keypad code for 2000 Grand Marquis

I had programmed in a code easy for me to remember on my 98 and lost the factory code. The dealer told me they could retrieve it from the car's computer but would charge me 1 hour labor ($75). I got the code for my 06 and wrote it in the owner's manual.

Thumbs up Re: Keypad code for 2000 Grand Marquis

It was indeed located on the trunk hinge on the driver's side. White sticker about 2" long with the code in bold black. It worked great!! I was so happy (since there are 3125 possible codes in all).
