Does the oil warning light have an oil level switch?

I have an oil light coming on sporadically. It seems to occur more often on a hill or in a turn and it act like the oil is low, but it isn't. So it acts like there is a oil level switch, not unlike a fuel level switch or sensor that is loose.

Does the Chrysler 3.0 engine have an oil level switch? If so, where is it connected?

I don't have an owners manual.

Re: Does the oil warning light have an oil level switch?

The "Oil Warning Light" is a low oil pressure warning, not an oil level warning. The Oil Pressure Switch is located on the lower left front side of the engine and it screws into the oil filter adapter.

Pressure can be affected by a low oil level, of course, but it also could be a defective switch. I wouldn't think a new switch would be too expensive to replace and it ought to be a fairly easy job. I'm assuming you have made absolutely certain that the crankcase is full.

Not that I have a lot of faith in the accurracy of Haynes manuals but it shows a drawing of "an exploded view of the oil pan and pickup assembly" on a 3 liter engine. On that drawing it shows an "oil level sensor or plug" on one side. I know nothing beyond that. I've never heard of an oil "level" sensor either but, there it was on the drawing.

Does it give you any 3.0 liter engine info?
