Post 1996 Eagle Vision starting problems

I have a 1996 Eagle Vision Esi. Recently I have had problems starting the vehicle. I turn the key and everything on the dash turns on but instead of the engine turning over I get a click. If i remove the key and try again 5-6 times, eventually I can get the car to start just fine. This problem seems to be intermittent and will occur for a few days, then not happen for weeks It has a new battery. When the key is in the ignition, it does seems a little loose. Does anyone have suggestions on what the potential problem might be? Is it an electrical problem, starter or ignition. Any insight appreciated.

Same here..

I have a 95 Vision that the is experiencing the same thing. At first it was just a matter of waiting a few seconds, but now nothing happens, not even a click. It sat over the winter time so I brought a brand new battery for it a few days ago. I'm curious whether it's the starter, alternator, or wiring. Please let me know what you discover.

Thanks,
Alex

Eagle vision stater problems

SInce i posted that question, it had gotten worse for me. It would take many tries to start, maybe 10 minutes of trying on somedays. If all the lights on the dash come on and you can here the fuel pump it is likely the starter. I just had my vehicle serviced and i needed a new starter. It cost me 300 for the part and installation. I hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the reply.

I can hear the fuel pump, so I'm going to go ahead and assume it's the starter and take it in for servicing. 300 bucks! That is painful! I bet the part was pretty cheap and the starter is in a horrible location that bumps up the labor.

Thanks again!

I would check your battery ground, and clean the terminals really good.
