Why are Dealerships and Salespeople considered Scum - Crooks
Along with being very dishonest by a very high % of consumers ?, is there a better way they could conduct their business ?

Re: Why are Dealerships and Salespeople considered Scum - Crooks
My thoughts...
1) Stop being coercive, pushy, demanding. 2) Possibly make the position of salespeople a non-commissioned position. 3) LISTEN to the customer and don't ASSUME they know's what's best for them. 4) When they promise something,(i.e. extra services, products, etc.) put it in writing and follow through with that promise. 5) Stop trying to insert hidden charges in the sales contract. 6) Be up front with the customer concerning interest rates/payments. 7) Don't act all "high and mighty" like they are doing you a favor. 8) Get rid of the "haggling" back and forth over a vehicle's price. To me that is so "20th Century" You don't go in to most stores and talk with a salesperson hoping to get $1000 of that plasma tv, so why should we continue to have to do it with cars?

97Venture - those are all excellent points...
I hate going into car dealerships but I don't think commissions are going to go anywhere so the experience will stay the same at most dealers for a long time to come.

Re: Why are Dealerships and Salespeople considered Scum - Crooks
Car sales is a very profitable business. This business went through some huge transitions about 20 years ago and is still evolving. Most saleman are new. You won't find very many that have been in the business for more than a few years as it is a grueling industry. Those that have been in the business longer are making great money because they have learned the Psychology of selling. If most customers new the game that they were playing when they went in to purchase a car, they would be amazed. In fact, most don't even know that they are in a game.
All that being said, salesmen are trained to do things a certain way because this way gets a certain response. When that response happens, they do the next thing that they have been trained to do. It is a game! link removed by Moderator-unauthorized advertising Last edited by '97ventureowner; 11-17-2007 at 12:34 AM. |

They are what they are and do what they do. I founded a site that help me and my wife level the field. We got a great deal all the way around using them over the internet, recommend to anyone looking for a new car.
