Re: FAQ's for +98 Isuzu's:

Wow, this FAQ page is fantastic. It's already answered a lot of my Rodeo questions.

I do have one additional question though. Someone posted a question about having the check engine light code read and one answer was to buy a specific code reader:

"You can buy a cheap code reader for 30-50 bucks (often on sale) at Harbor Freight link to code reader . If you take it to the dealer or another mechanic your going to pay 50-80 bucks for them to read your codes. Nice piece of equipment to keep in your glove box or garage, so you can help others to diagnose there their troubles."

My question is, can this code reader be used to reset (ie. turn off) the check engine light, or will it simply tell you the code with out the ability to reset???

Thanks for the help!

Re: FAQ's for +98 Isuzu's:

It will only tell you the code number. If you want to reset, you can just pull the neg terminal on the battery for 15 minutes.

Re: FAQ's for +98 Isuzu's:

Cool. Thanks. Our state emissions testing will fail you if the "check engine" light is on, even if the actual emissions are under the limit. I guess I'll do the battery thing a few minutes before I get there.

97?

Is there an FAQ for 97 and below? I have the fortune of owning a 97 and it appears to be a mix of 96 body with 98 internals. I know that the 96 egr valve is different than the 97. The 97 part cost me $150 at the dealer because of that electrical connector.

Re: FAQ's for +98 Isuzu's:

Ryan,
Sweeeeet. Glad to see that you embedded the write-up I did a year or so ago on replacing the fuel pressure regulator.

The whole point is to get all of the info out there, right?

Your time putting this together is VERY MUCH appreciated.

BTW - The Harbor Freight OBD-II code reader also clears stored and pending DTCs, but does not clear history. I've checked it against an Auto-Tap package, and can still see DTC history.

Re: FAQ's for +98 Isuzu's:

Hi, I have been reading about reprogramming a remote for a 2004 rodeo and it didn't work in relation to question 41.(I purchased a remote from ebay.) Which indicates Rodeos to 2002. Can you help in relation to programming the keyless entry remote for the 2004 model. Thanks

Seems to be down. If you need to, you can google 'isuzu faq' and it will be the first one. Click on the blue link that says 'cached' at the bottom of the description.
