Torque vs. Horsepower

How does acceleration feel in a car that has lots of horsepower, but not that much torque, vs. a car that has lots of torque but less horsepower? For example, the Honda Civic LX has a 2.0L engine with 158 horsepower and 138 lb.-ft. of torque, vs. the Volkswagen Golf TDI, which has a 2.0L diesel engine with 140 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque.

Re: Torque vs. Horsepower

Golf will accelerate more efficiently at the beggining. About 60 mph Honda will take the lead. More torque than HP means the maximum power is reached at lower RPM.
