I had a 96 Olds with a 3.1 liter engine in it and it would misfire when I would put cheap gas in it. My mom and dad own it now and as long as they put Chevron gas in it they have no problems. I was reading in my scanner that as a repair track in it and it was saying the cam in these 3.1 or 3.4 liter engines are to blame. The lobs are pressed onto the cam shaft and the lobs are slipping. They recommended changing the cam.

Ticking? I've just submitted a long post regarding the history of my '95 LS. The "ticking" I'm experiencing (slowly diminished as it gets warmer) is cause by a warped piston. Any other thoughts would be much appreciated, I'm rather bitter about the problem since the engine (only 93K on it) is relatively new.

Cheers.

Smile same problem

I had the same problem with my monte and i replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter for like $400 and now it runs great so that might be it. The mechanic said the fuel pump was getting hot in the fuel tank.

will this also make you think that there's a voltage issue.
