Chevy 350 Intake Manifold Gasket

Need to change the intake manifold gasket on 1998 Chevy 1/2 ton. Estimate was for $600. Looks fairly straigth forward in the book, any gotchas I should be aware of?

$600? Must be a dealership price.

Nope, local shop. Gasket kit only $24 so guess I will be tearing into it this afternoon.

Re: Chevy 350 Intake Manifold Gasket

Yeah, fairly non-complex repair. Get a roll of masking tape and number the end of each hose, tube, electrical connector, etc. and also the connecting point. I.e.: end of tube No.1 attaches to pipe No. 1. etc. There is nothing worse than forgeting where all the "spagetti" goes. If you happen to come across a broken stud or bolt, remember that they're all metric! You'll have to buy Heli-Coils in metric size also.
