EOE has created two products in that amount of time, rock sliders and tie-rods.

CALMINI has created 15 new parts for the Xterra in only 1 year.
They're doing more for the Xterra than everyone else combined. They also make all of their parts in house instead of farming it out (except exhaust, shocks and springs).
Why again bring EOE into this? Oh yea and make that three parts officially for sale, you forgot the HD Steering Stabilizer kit. Would it be more beneficial for me to produce a protoype, list it on my site then take orders from people so I could have the needed cash flow to have a fabricator mass produce items? This is exactly what Calmini has done...and most of the products they list are STILL not available. I have nothing against Calmini but you have your nose to far up their ass, stop defending them...they are a decent size company with some good ideas..let their products speak for themselves.
As far as them producing all their parts in house except what you have listed, I have heard from more than a few sources this is not true...but again does it really matter? As long as the products are produced to their specs and the fabricators they or anyone else uses have the skill to make the parts correctly than why is this a bad thing? What does SLR make in house?

Todd, I wasn't trying to bring EOE "into" it, just posting info about everyone for comparison of manufacturing and time issues.

Claiming that CALMINI releases parts late just isn't true compared to other vendors when you consider the facts that they build a lot in-house, and have released a lot of products.

I'm not defending CALMINI, I'm simply stating the facts. It wasn't meant to put down anyone.

Don't make me come back there...

To get this thread back on track...

I talked to this guy today. I'm sending him the measurements of the stock spring hanger tomm and he's gonna fab me up a set. I also mentioned the support the Xterra community will probably provide him with if his product proves worthwhile. He said he would be glad to get into the business of providing these to the community. I love small business!
He could proabably convinced to go in on a group but as well. I'll organize this option afetr I review mine.

And to clarify, They ARE NOT $250 a set... He said the price would be more like $140 a set delivered to your door. The $250 price is for a Scout which is leaf sprung front and rear (need 4 hangers!)

I expect to have mine in two weeks and I'll review em good for ya.

Honestly, these things are long time coming. I can't believe they haven't hit the market yet... especially those with new National Spring packs that are two inches lower than the OEM. I've beat the shiite out of my stock hangers, I even carry repalcement not

Also, weight your options... Stock shock mount replacements are $15 each, so do you want to spend 140 to replace a 15 part = 10 replacements... the issue for me is pain in the ass factor. Replace em once and forget about it. Plus gain a little clearance and smooth out the bottom.

My new spring packs are in the mail from SLR and hopefully I'll have these to mount them with.

I'll keep ya posted

AC has them on their site right now for about $75 under armor, I also have a set arriving to test next week and then they will be up on the EOE site as well.

Sounds good if the price isn't too bad.

$70 a piece isn't too bad especially with shipping.
And working with damaged U-bolts and plates can really be a PITA, especially if you have to do it on the trail.

Just so everyones claer... The AC skids are not high clearance. All AC did is weld a 1/4 piece of steel onto the bottom of the shock mount bracket. In facts AC's will reduce your clearnance ever so slightly.

BTW, looking at AC's design, where's the shock mount?

Compare:

AC's

Darlington's

The shock mount is the stud you see, it's replaceable so you do not have to buy the whole thing again. This design completely protects the bolts/nuts from damage and as you said reduces clearnace by a little bit...but it is the skidplate that is exposed now so you will glide over rocks so it really should not matter.

Hmmmm...I like the yellow ones better as they relocate the shock higher (getting it out of harms way and closer to it's original extension length with a 10-leaf pack).

But the AC ones are here now....argh.

Mr Miyagi would say...

"Patience Daniel-son"

I figure it'll be worth the two week wait for a head to head comparitive analysis... then make your decision.

Todd's gonna review the AC ones for ya.
I'll review the UB's...

Then make your decision.

I like the yellow ones because well, they are yellow

I was just looking under the X yesterday trying to get a better idea how much a new spring pack would hang below . Either of these options makes sense to me.

Updated: Will someone do me a favor...

I want to confirm my measurements here...
What is the distance from center to center of the bolt holes.
- front to back (this is the U-bolt width)
- side to side. This how far aprt the two U-bolts are.

Here are my measurements:
U-bolt diameter 3 5/8 inches
U-bolt to U-bolt distance 3 inches

Thanks

I wanted the spring perch to copy on out tracer mill to insure the bolt pattern was correct!

My question about the yellow one is that it looks like we will need a shorter shock absorber? Am I right?

Not if you have the 10-leaf spring pack. Which are the people who will need these the most. It should even everything out.
