84 Olds omega - no fuel, no spark
Hey,
first off let me thank the people that own this site for providing free help and such. Well, my 84 Oldsmobile Omega(2.5L 4cyl 151 R) failed to start yesterday. I originally thought it was a fuel issue because NO fuel is comming out the injector. I then got a free injector from an old truck from my mechanic for free. tried to put it in and it did nothing. The wires leading to the injector are getting voltage. So I ruled out the Injector. Then I bought a fuel pressure gauge, and I came to the conclusion that its not the fuel pump, or the fuel pressure regulator. After that I was stumped so I tried pooring gas down the throttle body to atleast see if it would start, nothing. I then relized there wasnt even spark getting to the spark plugs. Does Anyone know what this might be? If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. thanks |

Re: 84 Olds omega - no fuel, no spark
Could it possibly be the coil or pick-up coil?

Would this be considered the computer? |

Re: 84 Olds omega - no fuel, no spark
Is it the ingnition control module, or electronic control module??
Where is it located? And would this really make no gas come out the injector? |

Re: 84 Olds omega - no fuel, no spark
I cant even imagine changing these parts lol... The cap + rotor took me 2 hours to do because of the location...
The distributer is behind the engine, any technichs to do these easier? From the bottom? Im definitly changing both the module and pick-up, I dont want to do this ever again lol And also, just for insurance this is the module you speak of right? Thanks, you should get paid for your advise your better than ny mechanic ive ever talked to and your not looking at the car. |

Re: 84 Olds omega - no fuel, no spark
Thank you for this Post!
Gramdma's low mileage 1983 Oldsmobile Omega died, and replacing this Ignition Module has it at least starting again. It now will start but lacks power, and still throws code 42, Electronic Spark Timing Problem (Check Engine Light). Besides checking for coroded wiring connectors at the distributor, between the distributor and the computer, is there anything else you would suspect? Is this 25 year-old car now eligible for Classic-Car License Plates |
