Sharing my Experience: Malibu/Cutlass AC Light Flicker
Hey everyone.
Thought I would share some of my experiences with the notorious AC Intermittent light flicker on the Malibus and Cutlass AC control units. Basically I followed these steps to the T. http://www.imcool.com/articles/airco...Repairable.pdf . Now thats great, What could I possibly add to the directions given in this link? Well, I would recommend using DEOXIT GOLD, Instead of a graphite pencil. I did it both ways, and by FAR the DEOXIT GOLD eliminated the light flickering, now my AC runs constant without turning off and on while driving. This also restored my air circulation options. (Jist of the instructions: Remove control unit from vehicle. Remove knobs. Take small flathead screwdriver and GENTLY pry the face plate off, (working around the edges, start at the long side first pry it a little, hold it with your finger, then pry the side, then other side, should come off rather easily after that. Remove clear plastic apparatus. Press holding clips to release circuit board. Take q tip, and DEOXIT GOLD and clean contacts where the copper brushes contact the circuit board. Clean it very good, do not use force, do not use abrasive anything. Put back together, and it works like a charm. You can use alcohol first, then DEOXIT gold. Anyways, hope this helps someone. |
