Angry help me help me help me please fuel pump help

I just bought a high flow bbk fuel pump and installed it in my 1990 gt rag top because I came out to my garage one morning and the pump didn’t turn on at all. I replaced the pump and I now have the same issue. I have replaced the relay under my driver seat and still have the same issue. If I run 12 volts straight to the pump it shoots gas out like a rocket. My question to you all is this... Can I run a remote 12 volt straight to the in tank fuel pump by-passing the relay and the safety shutoff in the trunk instead of taking hours upon hours to trouble shoot what’s actually wrong with it? I would use a remote 12v of course so when I turn the key my pump kicks on. Has anyone done this or does anyone have any other ideals on how to troubleshoot this?

Re: fuel pump reply

Could be the TFI module on the distributor.

What about the brain in the passenger kickpanel

What about the brain in the passenger kickpanel does this control if fuel is shot through the fuel injectors and does anyone know about the relay it looks like there are four wires one wire is constent hot one wire is pink with a black tracer and goes straight to the fuel pump one wire is supposed to be a remote of the ignition and one wire is supposed to go to the brain in the kickpanel?? Could my brain be bad and could it be turning off my fuel pump??? Please help

Re: What about the brain in the passenger kickpanel

I doubt your computer is bad. Are you sure you got a good relay for the fuel pump? So when you go to crank the car over you don't here the fuel pump priming? Is this correct?

No noise from the fuel pump

Yeah you dont get a noise from the fuel pump unless you put twelve volts directily to it. I just got of the phone with a ford mechanic and he told me the last thing to check is to find the wire that goes from the relay to the ecm computer in your passenger kick panel and put a test light on it and then crank the car, He said the twelve volt tester should light up because the brain sends a pulse to the pump to kick the 12 volts on to prime it. He siad if I didnt get the test light to come on then I have a bad ecm computer. He also said that running 12 volts straight to the pump and then trying to start the car should have worked if my ecm is good so he pretty sure that my ecm was bad. I am going to go home for lunch in an hour or so and try it. If I cant get the 12 volt tester to light up on that wire from the relay to the brain when cranking the car I'm gonna call ford and order a new brain. I did however ask him about the TFI module on the distributer and he told me that my problem is with the brain or the relay but more than likely I have a brain that has gone bad. I'll give you an update after lunch. Do you have any other ideals??

Angry fuel pump problems

OK fellows got the new brain from Ford cost 250.00 plugged it in and no change same stuff I turn the key and no pump comes on. I'm about ready to eat a bullit on this one. I am however to short the 12v wire that plugs into the relay with the red wire with a black tacer that plugs into the relay and the pump will start to pime and then turns off and I can feel the relay in my have working. Does anyone have any ideal what my issue is? Is there any other componenet that I am missing to check out? I have replaced the brain the relay and put in a new fuel pump. What the hell is left. Are there more relays to replace or something else I have over looked???

Are you getting gas to your injectors? If so, then its a spark problem.

Put it this way, I have had problem starting my LX. I would try to start it, for about 3-4 min, then I would smell gas. Are you smelling gas when you are trying to start your car?

I'm getting gas to the injectors when I short the wires and it primes because I have purged the relief valve and gas shoots out. I am also getting spark I have pulled the boots and checked for spark so I know that spark is good. The only thing I have to go on know is that when you turn the key to the ignition the pump will nor turn on but if you short the wire leads in the relay you can get the pump to prime and turn on all the time if you short the correct wires.

I am at a loss on this one.

Standard or Auto?

Have you done anything else to the car besides the Fuel pump change?

The car was running fine, until you changed the pump, right?

Have you checked all your fuses? I have had the same problem when a fuse had blown. Just a thought.

yeah car was running fine and then one morning came out to start it and the fuel pump would not come on. I have since replaced the fuel pump relay under the seat installed a new BBK fuel pump and have replaced the computer in the car also. I can jumper wires on the fuel pump relay under the front seat and get the pump to prime and come on. doing this should rule out any wiring and the inertia switch in the trunk but when you turn the ignition still no pump. any ideals?????

Re: help me help me help me please fuel pump help

Have you found the problem yet? if so then this is no use to you but I had the same problem their is a relay under the hood that also contols the fuel pump inderectly and in the kick panel where the computer their is a relay as a matter of fact I replaced the fuel pump in mine 2 times before i found what it was. the relay in the kick panel i believe controls the air compressor on the car and it also effects the fuel pump my pump started that crap and the one in the kick panel was my culprit hope this helps
