I believe Ford is using the Mustang GT-R for racing.

Re: 2005 ford gt monster or not.
I honestly doubt any Ford product could hold anything 100hp higher than stock without effecting the engine in a negative way. And I honestly doubt that the Cobra can hold +1000 HP without needing serious block modifications.

Re: 2005 ford gt monster or not.
It may handle better than the viper, but in acceleration they're the same. The Mid engine Rear-Drive setup should give it very good handling. Do you even have any idea if and what series it is racing in?

mistake folks
Did i hear someone saying that the Ford GT is goin to have 500hp?, Sorry folks (for Ford haters that is), but the new Ford GT is gonna have 550hp (410kw), which is the reason why is has stunning acceleration times. U dont believe me? check the official website, ford's been sayin it'll have 550hp since the beginning of the year, so it shouldnt be much of a surprise to most of you people. And the stunning thing is i think ford managed to push out somethin like 620rwhp+, just comes to show what the Ford GT really is.... AN ANIMAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO FORDS!!!!

the gt is cool
let it be known, i feel ford has released only crap from dearborn since the death of the first gen mustang and their policies have been terrible (dont agree with me, read up on the pinto and the first gen focus engine fires) but lets face facts, the ford gt is cool, it's handles, it stops, and it's fast. So, ford, props on the gt, bring the falcon xr 6 over to the u.s., give all mustangs and independent suspension and we might just forget about the whole pinto incident

Re: 2005 ford gt monster or not.
I've seen all the publishings on the Ford GT because I work at a Ford Dealership. It has 550 HP,best handling, first Ford production car to use carbon fiber from the factory, and much more.

ford and saleen
I think on these projects projects, both companies stayed in house. Saleen usually tunes Fords, but in the s7's case, it's all done by Saleen. Now for my question. How does a Honda fan like me who really doenst like the s7 know this?

Re: 2005 ford gt monster or not.
i always laugh when these viper fan boys think their car can hang with GT.
whats funny is they always use the worste numbers they can find for the GT and the best they can find for the Viper if you do it the other way around you see that they viper gets its ass whooped even worse.

Wow, the Viper can do 0-60 in 3.3 seconds? I've never read that anywhere...
(BTW, for you slow folks, I say this because Car and Driver has taken the Ford GT to 60mph in that time, and someone said that the Ford GT and the Viper accelerates the same...) Anyway, why would you even think about modifying the Ford GT? The Cobra is one thing, but come on, this is a $150,000 car, a collectible, anyone messes with that, I will shoot him/her myself!

Re: 2005 ford gt monster or not.
Viper does 0-60 in 4.1-4.3 not 3.3 However the hennesy venom 800 twin turbo does 0-60 in 2.6 but then again its 400,000 and it has 800 probly 1000-1200 with turbos @ MAX BOOST. The ford Gt probly does it around a good 3.6 I'd think.
