Tamiya FXX K

This one was built out of box (with the addition of Tamiya's extra-cost carbon decals and photoetch, both recommended for a better finished product) for the October, 2016 issue of Scale Auto Magazine.

I did however alter the color scheme slightly, I used TS-95 Pure Metallic Red with a single airbrushed coat of transparent red over it. So sue me...a Mazda color on a Ferrari

As expected, the model goes together pretty well. There's some bodywork required, door fit isn't spectacular, and the kit really should have KERS wiring and boxes. It's a complicated mold so bodywork is not going to be avoided. Enjoyed it enough I'll be building the white #55 car at some point.

Re: Tamiya FXX K

Looks good, Bob! I just started the engine on mine, and I'm adding wiring. I'm still torn between metallic red like yours or TDF blue. I ordered the Studio 27 decals as well, because there's at least one decal Tamiya left out - the Italian flag decal you see on the front of some cars just ahead of the hood vent. They left it out of course because #10 doesn't have it. I do wish Tamiya included numbers other than 10, but maybe they knew the aftermarket would step in.

Do Peter Mann's #27; he's got quite a few Blue TDF F-cars, including the 599 XX, LaFerrari, and he's getting a LaFerrari Aperta which Ferrari refuse to paint Blue TDF so he's going to have it completely repainted to match his LaFerrari and FXX K.

Re: Tamiya FXX K

Fantastic looking build! Immaculate as ever, and I expect it's a great kit to built. But I'm still trying to convince myself that it's a good looking car. Why must the era of beautiful Ferraris be over...?

No question- do it in TDF. It's the only color that the Enzo looked really good in- hopefully this one will also.

Ferrari not wanting to paint one of their cars in one of their own colours! Thats absurd!!! The LaFerrari looks great in TDF blu!

& as usual, Great work Bob! Looks fantastic in Metallic Red!!

Looking great in this color. Saw this beast earlier this year in Museo Ferrari in Maranello on my trip to Italy. Awesome car.

Awesome finish and great pictures!
I will definitely do mine in blue, but it will take a while until it will be finished.
