Hey Cbass, could I borrow some of that cool? I want to go pick up chicks and the B isn't running at the moment.
Fouled plugs, AGAIN! Damn you Lucas electrics, single SU carb, and dime store spark plugs. Chicks love my B, they think it's cute, but not in the same way they think New Beetles or 1st Gen Miatas are cute. At least, that's what they tell me.......:angel:

Hey, it would be even worse with dual carbs! Then you'd have to sync them, and that can be a bitch...
Anyways, yeah, I've got enough cool to go around. Just don't pick up any trashy girls with my cool, it tarnishes my coolness

Actually, the dual SU setup is more reliable than the single SU when dealing with the high-compression solid lifter B engine because you don't have as much of a problem with running the carb too rich (which is one of my problems). And Strombergs work even better.
*looks aghast* Trashy girls? I'd never! I'm a gentleman, that's why I drive a gentleman's car like the MGB. That, and the car only cost me $450 dollars out the door, titling and all.

Okay, the first thing to do is remove the bumpers from the B. Second thing to do is get a set of Minilites. Sell the wires and get the minilites.
Then, you have taken baby steps on the road to my level of coolness. Just had to make sure about the trashy girls, you have no idea what happened the last time I lent somebody a little cool.

Actually, I found a sweet set of Borrani 72 spoke wires the other day. You don't want to know the price, though. The real problem with changing wheels on my car is that I also have to change the hubs to do so. My B is a wire wheel car with actual knock offs. I change tires with a brass hammer. So, until I can afford new front spindles and rear hubs, I'm stuck with knock-off wheels. Maybe a set of Halibrand Starfires, like the old Cobras used. Mmmn, magnesium.

I can but I don't, much. The MGB GT has a great short wheelbase, torquey pushrod 1.8L engine, 4-speed racing transmission with straight cut gears, solid rear axle, and quick ratio steering. Plus, after I got rid of most of the crud on the calipers, I found my car is equipped with Girling brakes. So, it is an ideal drifter, in spite of not having power steering or power brakes. It's insanely easy to swing the tail around under braking and the car is even very tolerant of making the odd error.
The reason why I DON'T drift it much is the wheels. As I've mentioned before, I've got the factory set of knock-off 52 spoke wire wheels on my car. These wheels are known to shed (the spokes depart from the axles) themselves under high side loadings. At the moment, I don't want to risk it. That's why I'm shopping for either wheels that fit the knock-off stub axles, or a good set of the four lug spindles and axles. It's a bummer, because my teammate will only loan me his S13 to get my drift fix so many times. (he's afriad I'll become better than him, though I taught him most everything he knows in the first place)

Well, I would recommend the minilites for knockoff hubs. They're on Ebay pretty often...
