N/A 300zx or SVT Contour
I am considering either a N/A 300zx or an SVT Contour. Both are V6, but contour is 4 doors and has 200hp but does 0-60 in about the same time. I need something to push me over the edge on one or the other. I also don't know if I want to buy an N/A 300zx because its not TT.

okay, lets see here. a contour is a family sedan, and a 300zx is a sports car. this is a hard choice? -Jared

The Z looks better, and there are more parts available for it, and a larger cult following for the Z32(NA) than the Contour SVT. Ford also kill that car for a reason, sales sucked on that car, it was like the Focus SVT, WHOLE lot of potential, but no one at the factory took advantage of it. I left Ford because they have lost base with what worked, they are now just flailing around reaching for what ever will save their sinking ship. Its sad really becuase I love Ford, my Escort was the best little car I ever owned, not to mention the only front wheel drive car I have ever owned.
Oh and the SVT Contour is FWD/FF, The Z is RWD/FR. it depends on your tastes, if you like FFs, then get the Contour, if you like the power to the rear, then go Zed! |

Jared is right on this one. Z's and Contours are two COMPLETELY different cars! They both will handle and drive differently. It depends on what you really want the car for, and what you can afford. If the car is for looks and preformance and you can spare the money on upkeep, by all means get the Z! But if you are just wanting some car, please dont get a Z car.

oh and another thing...
I suggest you be somewhat mehaniclly inclinded if you are going to have a Z or have some extra cash saved up for maintenence. Z's need lots of love and care, but they are soooooo worth it!

Why the hell would you post this in the 'Past Z Cars' section? You're gonna get a bunch of biased answers. Post this in 'Car Comparisons' please.

some of you all are just being plain harsh, he just asked a question and personally I think he came to the right place. Its better than the car comparison becuase there you get a million HONDA lovers scream BUY A CIVIC! He wanted a honest POV of what we thought of the Zed over the Contour.
So with that said, LAY OFF!! |

depends on a lot of things...i have gotten beat by one of those damn countour SVT's. i dont think this was stock but who knows. if you want a more maitanence free car by all means go with the newer contour SVT but if you want something that looks good than go with the z32. if you dont absolutely love the z i wouldnt reccomend getting one because your gonna get up with the little odds and ends that go wrong with these cars. plus the contour can be used all year around depending on where you live your not going to want to take your z out on a snowy cruise.

Re: N/A 300zx or SVT Contour
Is the 300zx N/A any faster than the SVT? SVT has 200, 300zx has 222. Is one even faster than the other? I like both, 300zx is a classic but it won't be turbo and I don't think it not being turbo will be worth it.

hp isn't everything you know... you have to compare the hp, tq, weight... 0-60, top speed, power curve, drivetrain, aftermarket support, ease of maintinence, your mechanical abilities, your plans for the car...
all that said.. you'll be much happier with the zx

id go with the z but i actually think that a SVT contour will take a automatic Z. i dont know about the manual beings the automatic n/a z32's tend to have very sloppy shifts.

hahaha, u dont really hear that every day...should i get a ford contour or a 300zx. The 300zx is so much better Engineered than the ford contour. As mentioned before, 300zx's are for true fans not for people wanting a fast car for straight line racing. The ford will cost less to maintain, yet, the 300zx just looks so much better and will turn more heads.
